Our Pinot Noir Shiraz is affectionately known here as Pinaz
An estate grown red blend of Pinot Noir (58%) and Shiraz (42%).
The idea of the Carafe and Tumbler range is to create a fruit driven but firm wines to be enjoyed with friends over a meal. Why Pinot Noir and Shiraz? There is a little bit of “why not?” but mostly it is because it makes a delicious drink. Although this is our entry level wine, it gets all the care and attention of our varietal wines. The grapes are hand picked, mostly destemmed and fermented with wild yeasts in small, open top fermenters. After a long soak on skins (up to 5 weeks) the wine was pressed and put to 300L French barrels for wild malolactic fermentation and a short maturation. The wine was blended and bottled whilst still bright, fresh and lively.
Bright ruby with a purple tinge and clear. An attractive nose with lifted cherry, red liquorice, peppery spice and charcoal. The palate is light to medium bodied with the slightest of grip, anchoring what is an otherwise playful wine, with raspberry, fennel fronds and vanilla. The raspberry lingers with fresh cleansing acidity subtle tannins. A great wine for afternoon alfresco dining.
